Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed partisan labels in Rivers State, insisting that the political landscape in his home state transcends the usual party boundaries.
Speaking during a visit to Port Harcourt, Wike said those attempting to “chase” him politically were miscalculating, arguing that the situation in Rivers is unique and not defined by the traditional rivalry between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“There’s nothing like PDP or APC in Rivers State,” he said. “Therefore, if you’re pursuing Wike, you’ll miss road.”
The former Rivers State governor added that despite his current role in Abuja, he remains firmly connected to his home state and intends to maintain a constant presence.
“Every week, I’ll be coming to Rivers State. Abuja is not my place; it’s where I work. I’ll be home every week,” Wike declared.
His comments come amid ongoing political tensions in the state, with Wike’s influence continuing to shape local dynamics despite his move to the federal level.
Wike reiterated his commitment to the people of Rivers State, stressing that no political manoeuvre could undermine his connection to the state or diminish his role in its political affairs.
