Nigeria’s Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has voiced concern over worsening economic hardship across the country, warning that many citizens are struggling amid growing social and financial pressures.

Speaking on the state of the nation, Akpabio said he was not criticising the government but stressed that the realities facing ordinary Nigerians could no longer be ignored.

“I am not criticising the government, but Nigerians are suffering everywhere,” he said. “I have travelled around and noticed a lot of issues. The Minister of Foreign Affairs has a lot of work to do. Our children are being sent out of schools.”

The remarks come at a time of mounting public frustration over rising living costs, inflation and access to education, with many families finding it increasingly difficult to cope with economic pressures.

Akpabio’s comments are likely to fuel broader debate over the government’s handling of the economy and social welfare, as concerns deepen over the impact of hardship on households across the country.
