Peter Obi has called for greater collaboration across Nigeria’s regions, warning that the country is veering off course and requires urgent redirection.

Speaking during a visit to Bala Mohammed at the Bauchi State Government House, Obi said his trip was aimed at rallying support from the North East in efforts to foster national unity.

“I’m here to solicit support from Governor Bala Mohammed and the North East in our quest to unite the country,” Obi said, adding that Nigeria is “headed in the wrong direction” and must take deliberate steps to reverse the trend.

The visit comes amid growing political conversations around national cohesion and governance challenges in Africa’s most populous nation. Obi, a former presidential candidate, has continued to position himself as a voice advocating structural reforms and inclusive leadership.

There was no immediate official statement from the Bauchi State Government following the meeting.
