The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has made a strong statement regarding the ongoing efforts to apprehend the notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji. During an appearance on Channels Television’s 2024 Year-In-Review programme, Musa expressed confidence that Turji’s capture is imminent, citing recent successes in targeting his commanders and associates.
Musa indicated that Turji has been forced to operate underground due to the intensified military operations against him. He emphasized that the strategy involves systematically removing those who support Turji, which has included killing some of his commanders and arresting close associates.
In addition to the focus on Turji, the CDS reported that over 120,000 terrorists have surrendered in the North-East region, highlighting the complex dynamics of the insurgency, with some individuals having been coerced into joining militant groups.
