Nigerian author and actor Damilare Kuku offers a striking exploration of modern relationships in Lagos through her debut novel, Nearly All The Men In Lagos Are Mad. Comprising twelve short stories, the book delves into themes of infidelity, sexting, ‘situationships’, infertility, and sexual assault, painting a vivid and witty portrayal of love’s complexities in Nigeria’s bustling metropolis.

Kuku shares, “Each story is based on women’s experiences, women I know. There’s so much we don’t talk about as women.” Told mainly from the perspectives of Nigerian women grappling with the quest for lasting love, the novel serves as both a “love letter to women” and a sharp commentary on contemporary romantic realities.

An excerpt reveals the painful breakdown of trust between a woman and Oddy, a married man who maintained a dual life:

“Your home together was always a transit stop. It was where you lived, but Oddy had always been a guest.” The narrative captures heartbreak, denial, and the struggle for answers with raw honesty and emotional depth.
