Military veterans have called on the Federal Government to implement the long-awaited adjustment to their salaries and allowances, saying the delay has left many of them struggling despite an earlier presidential approval.
The veterans said the President approved an increase in their remuneration last year, but alleged that the adjustment had yet to be reflected in their payments.
“They don’t want to do the adjustment on our salary even though the President approved it. The President approved the increment of our salary since last year. It’s all over the news, but nothing has been done,” one of the veterans said.
The veterans expressed frustration over what they described as a prolonged delay in implementing the approved review, arguing that the adjustment was necessary to improve their welfare and recognise their years of service to the country.
They urged the authorities responsible for implementing the review to act without further delay, saying veterans who dedicated their lives to national service should not be left waiting indefinitely for an approved increase.
The demand comes amid growing calls for improved welfare for retired military personnel, particularly as rising living costs continue to put pressure on households across the country.
The veterans said they would continue to seek clarification and press for the implementation of the salary adjustment until the approved review is reflected in their entitlements.
