Super Falcons defender Michelle Alozie has given fans a glimpse into her off-field life after revealing her admiration for the latest collaboration between American rapper Gunna and Nigerian Afrobeats star Asake.
In a Snapchat update on Tuesday, Alozie posted a photo of her car stereo playing “Satisfaction”, one of the standout tracks from Gunna’s new album The Last Wun. She accompanied the post with a short caption that read: “I am now obsessed with this song.”
The single recently climbed to the top of the US Apple Music Chart, marking Asake’s first-ever number one on the platform, and has been hailed globally for its themes of ambition and resilience.
Speaking on her growing music taste, a close source to the player told The Observers Times: “Michelle has always been proud of her Nigerian roots. Seeing her vibe to Asake while also embracing Gunna shows how she bridges cultures through her personality.”
Alozie Beyond the Pitch
Alozie, a Yale graduate in molecular biology, initially balanced football with a career as a paediatric cancer research technician. Despite going undrafted in the American NWSL, her determination saw her rise from trials abroad to becoming a mainstay at Houston Dash.
On the international stage, she has grown into one of the Super Falcons’ most trusted defenders, featuring at the 2023 Women’s World Cup, shining at the 2024 Olympics, and scoring a decisive goal as Nigeria clinched their record 10th WAFCON title in Morocco earlier this year.
