In a scathing social media post, former Senator Shehu Sani has taken aim at ex-Kaduna Governor Nasir Elrufai, who recently accused current Governor Uba Sani of receiving “N150 billion” from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu without disclosing the funds to the public.

Sani, who represented the Kaduna Central Senatorial District, responded to Elrufai’s claims by highlighting a history of financial transactions during Elrufai’s tenure that he argues were similarly opaque. On his Facebook page, Sani stated, “The Ex-Governor of Kaduna State accused the Present Governor of Collecting ‘N150 Billion’ from Tinubu and refusing to disclose it to the people of the state. Let’s recall history and find the answers.”

He proceeded to list several instances where he claims Elrufai failed to provide transparency regarding funds received from the federal government, including millions from the Paris Refund, billions in Excess Crude funds, and ecological grants. Sani emphasized, “There is nobody in Kaduna state who can confidently hold his Holy Book and swear that he or she knows how every kobo of the Kaduna’s $350 million World Bank loans was spent, until the Kaduna Assembly probe.”

Sani insinuated that if Governor Uba Sani is indeed withholding information about the alleged N150 billion, he may have learned this lack of transparency from Elrufai himself. He quipped, “The man with a body odour is accusing another of having a mouth odour,” suggesting hypocrisy in Elrufai’s criticisms.

Furthermore, Sani questioned the motivations behind political allegiances, asking, “If the Present Governor is supporting Tinubu because of money, can we say that the former one was supporting and kneeling down for Buhari for the same reason?”

In closing, Sani referred to the ongoing political rivalry as a “Legend of betrayal being outsmarted by the grand guru,” underscoring the complex dynamics of Kaduna State’s political landscape.
