Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of refusing to comply with a court order granting him bail, escalating tensions surrounding his ongoing detention.

In a statement released through his media aide on Tuesday, Malami alleged that officials of the EFCC turned away a court bailiff who arrived to serve the bail order, insisting that he would remain in custody until a separate High Court directive—expected to expire today—lapses.

According to the former AGF, the commission’s actions amount to a blatant disregard for the rule of law and undermine the authority of the judiciary.

He urged Nigerians, civil society groups, and the international community to “speak out against impunity,” stressing that “no agency is above the law, and no democracy can thrive where court orders are treated with contempt.”
