Governor ’Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will retain control of the state beyond 2027 and reclaim the presidency in the next general elections.
Makinde made the remarks at the Oyo State PDP Congress held at the Basketball Arena of the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan. He praised the party’s commitment to internal democracy, noting the peaceful conduct of congresses from ward to state levels as proof of its strength.
He urged the newly elected state executive members to work diligently to secure victory for the party across all levels in 2027.
“This exercise is to ensure PDP remains in power in Oyo State beyond 2027. The executives that will emerge from this exercise, your mandate is clear — deliver PDP from the presidential to the councillorship level in 2027,” Makinde said.
Earlier, Senator Austin Akobundu, Chairman of the PDP Congress Electoral Panel, commended Makinde, party leaders, and stakeholders for fostering unity within the party, describing the congress as a milestone for the PDP.
