Residents of war-ravaged Gaza have rejected the latest peace plan unveiled by US President Donald Trump, describing it as unrealistic and unlikely to end the conflict.

“It’s clear that this plan is unrealistic,” said 39-year-old Ibrahim Joudeh, speaking from his shelter in Al-Mawasi, a designated humanitarian zone in southern Gaza. “It contains conditions that the US and Israel know Hamas will never accept. For us, that means the war and the suffering will continue.”

The 20-point plan, unveiled after talks between Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, calls for a ceasefire, the release of hostages, Hamas’s disarmament, and a phased Israeli withdrawal. It also proposes a “temporary international stabilisation force” and a transitional authority headed by Trump himself.

But for many Gazans, the proposal lacks credibility. Abu Mazen Nassar, 52, displaced from northern Gaza, said the deal was designed to secure hostage releases without genuine guarantees to halt the fighting. “This is all manipulation. We will not accept this farce,” he said.

Other residents voiced despair after nearly two years of war and repeated failed ceasefire attempts. “If there was a real intention to stop the war, they wouldn’t have waited this long,” said a woman displaced from Gaza City.

On Monday, at least 30 people were killed in Israeli strikes, according to Gaza’s civil defence agency. Amid mounting scepticism, Gazans see the latest plan as yet another political manoeuvre that leaves ordinary people paying the price.
