Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has congratulated Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo on his re-election as governor of Anambra State and urged him to use the mandate to deepen unity and accelerate delivery of “dividends of democracy” across the state.

Speaking from Abeokuta, Abiodun — who chairs the Southern Governors’ Forum — described the poll outcome as a clear expression of confidence by the electorate and called on Soludo to treat the result as an exhortation to do more for the people. “With the results of Saturday’s election, the people of Anambra State spoke in clear, unmistakable terms, affirming their belief in the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo,” he said.

Abiodun told the governor to “endeavour to unite all political tendencies in the state for the development of Anambra State,” and to ensure that the re-election translates into tangible improvements for residents. “Let your victory inspire you to do more,” he added, stressing that inclusive governance would consolidate the gains of democracy.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Soludo the winner after he polled 422,664 votes out of 584,054 valid votes cast across the state’s 21 local government areas, defeating his nearest rival by a wide margin. Observers and local media described the result as a landslide that reinforced the incumbent’s political standing.

Political commentators say the immediate challenge for Soludo will be converting electoral goodwill into sustained policy action  particularly on job creation, infrastructure and social services  while bringing opposing political interests into a collaborative space. Analysts note that rhetoric alone will not satisfy citizens who expect prompt and visible improvements in living standards.

No new appointments or specific policy pledges were announced by Abiodun at the time of his statement. Both national and regional leaders, including President Bola Tinubu, have also extended congratulations to the re-elected governor, signalling broad political recognition of the result.
