Nigeria’s federal legislature will resume plenary sittings on Tuesday, as both chambers of the National Assembly of Nigeria reconvene after a recess, setting the stage for renewed debates on key national issues.
The Nigerian Senate and the House of Representatives of Nigeria are expected to pick up pending legislative business, including consideration of outstanding bills, committee reports and oversight matters critical to governance and economic stability.
Parliamentary sources said lawmakers will also review motions touching on security, fiscal reforms and social welfare, alongside constituency concerns raised by members during the break. The leadership of both chambers is understood to have urged legislators to return promptly in order to fast-track priority legislation and address pressing national challenges.
The resumption comes amid growing public expectation for decisive parliamentary action, particularly on policies aimed at easing the cost of living and strengthening accountability across government institutions.
Observers say Tuesday’s sitting could signal an intensified legislative calendar, with committees expected to accelerate hearings and engagements in the coming weeks as the Assembly works to clear its agenda before the next recess.
