The Kogi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has issued a stern warning against what it calls an “unconstitutional plot” by outsiders to seize control of the party.

At a press briefing Wednesday, the party’s spokesperson, Usman Lukman, accused unnamed individuals—whom he labeled “alien to ADC’s operations”—of scheming to overthrow its legitimate leadership.

Lukman reaffirmed Chief Leke Abejide as the party’s “undisputed leader” and urged security agencies to remain alert to prevent any breakdown of law and order. He emphasized that the ADC was built through grassroots efforts, sacrifice, and discipline, and must not suffer the same fate as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which he claimed had been “recklessly destroyed” by similar forces.

“Any attempt to hijack the ADC through unconstitutional means will be met with fierce resistance, using every legal and constitutional tool at our disposal declared.

He warned party what he described as “faceless impostors” seeking to destabilize the ADC. Lukman also cautioned security agencies against providing protection for any unauthorized meetings or activities falsely conducted in the party’s nameAny such gathering is illegal, illegitimate, and a deliberate threat to the peace and security of Kogi State,” he stated.

Calling on loyal members to remain steadfast, Lukman vowed that the ADC’s structure would be shielded from opportunists who neither share its vision nor uphold its values. The party, he stressed, would not tolerate any subversion of its democratic processes.
