A High Court in Kaduna State has once again rejected a fresh bail application filed by former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, dealing another setback to his legal efforts as he faces criminal charges brought by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

The court ruled that the former governor’s application lacked sufficient grounds to warrant a review of its earlier decision, allowing the trial to proceed without granting him bail.

El-Rufai is being prosecuted by the ICPC over allegations of corruption and related offences. While the former governor has denied any wrongdoing, the anti-corruption agency insists it possesses sufficient evidence to prosecute the case.

The latest ruling marks another significant development in the high-profile proceedings, as attention remains focused on one of Nigeria’s most prominent political figures. The case is expected to continue at a later date, with both the prosecution and defence preparing for the next phase of the trial.
