Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the incumbent Governor of Anambra State and candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has taken a commanding lead in the ongoing governorship election, winning 19 out of the 21 local government areas so far announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Results released at the state collation centre in Awka show Soludo maintaining a strong advantage over his closest rivals from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Labour Party (LP).
Despite the impressive lead, the collation of results is still in progress, with INEC officials yet to declare the final outcome. The exercise is being monitored closely by party agents, election observers, and security officials to ensure transparency.
Analysts say Soludo’s performance reflects continued voter confidence in his administration’s reforms, particularly in infrastructure development and fiscal transparency.
INEC is expected to announce the final results once collation from the remaining local government areas is completed.
