A member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, has dismissed allegations surrounding a viral video showing his tongue stained blue, insisting the controversy was fuelled by political opponents.
The lawmaker, who represents a constituency in Kano State, denied claims linking the clip to substance use, stating that the colouration came from what he described as “sweet blue candy”.
The video, which circulated widely on social media, sparked intense speculation and criticism, with some users questioning the source of the unusual appearance.
Responding to the backlash, Doguwa accused unnamed political enemies of attempting to damage his reputation through what he characterised as a coordinated smear campaign.
The incident has continued to generate debate online, highlighting the growing role of viral content and political narratives in shaping public discourse in Nigeria.
