Nigeria’s electoral commission has warned against multiple voter registrations while expressing concern over the growing number of uncollected Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Kogi State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said double registration remains a violation of electoral laws and could undermine the integrity of the voting process if not curtailed.
The commission also revealed that a significant number of PVCs remain unclaimed across the state, raising fears that voter participation could be affected ahead of future elections.
INEC urged eligible voters who have completed their registration process to collect their cards promptly, stressing that the PVC remains the only recognised means of accreditation during elections in Nigeria.
The warning comes amid renewed efforts by the electoral body to sanitise the voter register and strengthen public confidence in the country’s democratic process.
