Gunmen Attack Plateau Community, Many Feared Dead

Several residents are feared dead after gunmen attacked settlements in Jwak Maitumbi community, in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The attackers, described as a rampaging militia, reportedly stormed the community and carried out a deadly assault, leaving residents fleeing for safety.

According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication, about 45 residential shelters were destroyed during the attack, alongside large quantities of crops.

The reported destruction has further heightened concerns over the security situation in parts of Plateau State, where rural communities have continued to face attacks and displacement.

The exact number of casualties remains unclear, while details surrounding the identity of the attackers and the circumstances of the incident are still emerging.

Authorities are yet to provide an official account of the reported attack or confirm the number of people killed.
