Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Tuesday paid a surprise visit to the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, where a closed-door meeting was underway.
Details of the meeting were not immediately made public, as party officials declined to brief journalists at the end of the discussions. However, the governor was seen arriving at the secretariat amid tight security, fuelling intense political speculation.
Sources within the party disclosed that the meeting involved top APC leaders, although the agenda remained undisclosed as of the time of filing this report.
Governor Fubara, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been at the centre of heightened political developments in Rivers State in recent months, making his visit to the APC headquarters particularly noteworthy.
Efforts to obtain official comments from the Rivers State Government and the APC National Working Committee were unsuccessful. Party insiders, however, described the meeting as “strategic”, suggesting it could have broader political implications ahead of future electoral contests.
The visit has since sparked widespread reactions across political circles, with analysts closely watching for any signals that may emerge from the closed-door engagement.
