Civic advocacy group GoNigeria has released a statement urging Nigerians to deepen their commitment to democratic values as the country continues its journey towards national development.
The organisation stressed that for democracy to thrive, citizens must not only demand their rights and freedoms but also develop a clearer understanding of what it means to live in a free society. It noted that strong democratic institutions, effective governance structures, and responsible civic behaviour are essential to sustaining democracy.
GoNigeria emphasised that building a resilient democracy requires collective effort, calling on Nigerians to actively engage in civic life, uphold democratic norms, and support institutions that protect freedom and accountability.
According to the group, a shared appreciation of democratic principles will help ensure that Nigeria’s democracy endures and delivers meaningful progress for present and future generations.
