NASC Reshuffles Standing Committees, Names New Leaders

The National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) has reconstituted the membership of its Standing Committees. Executive Chairman Chief Saviour Enyiekere announced the changes during the Commission’s 32nd meeting, held on Tuesday, 15 September 2026. He said the previous committees were allowed to remain until last Tuesday so they could complete pending tasks. According to him, the restructuring follows Section 7 of the Commission’s Standing Orders. He also urged committee members and management to work together in unity so the Commission can fulfil its mandate.

The new committee leadership is as follows:

· Finance and General Purpose Committee: Chaired by the Executive Chairman, with all Commissioners as members. Secretary to the Commission, Lucky U. Ikharo, serves as Secretary.
· Administration and Employee Relations Committee: Hon. Lawan Maina Mahmud, Commissioner for North-East, is Chairman, while Mr Patrick Giwa, former Clerk of the House of Representatives, is Deputy.
· Procurement and General Services Committee: Hon. Aminu Ibrahim Malle, Commissioner for North-East, is Chairman, with Chief Festus Ifesinachi Odii, Commissioner for South-East, as Deputy.
· Establishment, Records and Training Committee: Mr Patrick A. Giwa, Commissioner for South-South, is Chairman, while Hon. Nnanna Uzor Kalu, Commissioner for South-East, is Deputy. Hon. Kalu also becomes Chairman of the Committee on Zonal Offices and Legislative Aides, with Hon. Hanmation Mark Tersoo, Commissioner for North-Central, as Deputy.
· Planning, Research and Library Services Committee: Chief Festus I. Odii is Chairman, with Hon. Afeez Ipesa-Balogun, Commissioner for South-West, as Deputy.

· Promotion and Discipline Committee: Senator Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi, Commissioner for North-West, is Chairman, while Mrs Mary Ekpenyong, Commissioner for South-South, is Deputy.
· Public Affairs Committee: Hon. Afeez Ipesa-Balogun, Commissioner for South-West, retains his position as Chairman, while Senator Hunkuyi becomes Vice Chairman.

· Appeals and Legal Services Committee: Hon. Hanmation Mark Tersoo is Chairman, with Hon. Lawan Maina Mahmud as Deputy.

· Information and Communication Technology Committee: Hon. Salihu Umar Agboola Balogun, representing North-Central, is Chairman, while Alh. Yusuf A. Yusuf, Commissioner for North-West, is Vice Chairman. Alh. Yusuf also heads the Internal Audit Committee, with Mallam Salihu Balogun as Vice Chairman.

· Tenders Board: Mrs Mary Ekpenyong, Commissioner for South-South, is Chairman, with Hon. Aminu Ibrahim Malle as Deputy.

All committees include members drawn from across the country’s six geopolitical zones. The redeployments take immediate effect.
