Former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose has said that the presence of former Anambra State governor Peter Obi has given the African Democratic Congress (ADC) renewed relevance in Nigeria’s political landscape.

Fayose made the remark while reacting to recent political realignments involving Obi, a former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, whose political moves continue to attract national attention.

According to Fayose, Obi’s growing influence and loyal support base have elevated the profile of the ADC, a party that previously operated largely on the fringes of mainstream politics.

“Peter Obi has given the ADC relevance,” Fayose said, suggesting that the former governor’s association with the party has drawn fresh public interest and repositioned it as a platform to watch ahead of future elections.

Obi, who gained widespread support during the 2023 presidential election, remains one of the most prominent opposition figures in the country. His political activities are closely followed, particularly by young voters and reform-minded supporters.

While the ADC has not officially commented on Fayose’s statement, analysts say Obi’s involvement with any political platform is likely to shift dynamics within the opposition and intensify conversations around coalition-building.

Fayose, a senior figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is known for his blunt assessments of Nigeria’s political scene, often offering views that spark debate across party lines.
