A fresh wave of political manoeuvring has emerged in Nigeria’s ruling party as a member of the House of Representatives, James Faleke, obtained the ₦50 million nomination form of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Lagos State governorship race on behalf of the state’s Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.
The development comes shortly after Faleke had earlier picked the party’s presidential nomination form for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, intensifying speculation around internal party strategies ahead of upcoming elections.
The latest move, which places Hamzat in the race for the APC governorship ticket in Lagos State, has stirred political conversations within the party’s Lagos structure, where succession politics and endorsements are already taking shape.
While no official statement has been issued by the party or the Deputy Governor, the development is expected to add further momentum to early alignments within the APC as aspirants position themselves for primaries.
Political observers say Faleke’s repeated involvement in picking nomination forms for high-profile candidates underscores his growing influence within the party’s strategic circles, especially in Lagos and at the national level.
