The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has pledged to hand young Nigerians a bigger role in shaping the country’s political future, promising 35 per cent affirmative action for youths in both elective and appointive offices.
This commitment was made during a meeting in Abuja between the party’s interim leadership, led by Senator David Mark, and its youth wing. National Youth Leader Balarabe Rufai said the dialogue focused on “creating a genuine platform for young Nigerians to lead, not just participate, in politics,” adding that the ADC intends to “break from old political habits and champion a true generational shift.”
Senator Mark expressed readiness to support the transition, declaring, “The combination of the young and the old generation is the best thing for the country. My generation is ready to pave the way for the younger generation. It’s a generational shift; we want to transfer power to the youth.”
