An alleged coup network under investigation by security agencies is reported to have procured no fewer than 32 vehicles for what officials suspect were covert operational activities, according to an exclusive report by Premium Times.
The newspaper said preliminary findings from security sources indicate that the vehicles were acquired over a period of time and distributed through intermediaries to avoid drawing attention. Investigators are said to be examining procurement records, ownership documents and financial trails linked to the purchases.
Senior security officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the probe, reportedly described the acquisitions as “logistically significant”, noting that mobility and discreet movement are often central to clandestine operations. However, authorities have not publicly disclosed the identities of the individuals or groups connected to the alleged plot.
The report added that multiple agencies are collaborating on the investigation, with a focus on establishing whether the purchases were directly tied to a coordinated attempt to undermine constitutional order or were part of a broader security breach.
When contacted, government representatives declined detailed comment, citing ongoing investigations, but reiterated their commitment to safeguarding national stability and the rule of law. They urged the public to remain calm and allow security agencies to carry out their work.
As inquiries continue, analysts say the case underscores the importance of financial intelligence and inter-agency cooperation in detecting and preventing threats to democratic governance.
