Former Senate President Ahmed Lawan has projected that President Bola Tinubu is likely to secure more than 75 per cent of the northern vote in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking in Abuja during a recent political gathering, Lawan expressed confidence in Tinubu’s appeal across northern states, citing his administration’s policies, infrastructural projects, and security initiatives as factors likely to resonate with voters.

Lawan, a veteran politician and influential northern leader, stated that Tinubu’s leadership style and developmental agenda have strengthened his popularity, particularly in the region. He added that the projected support would be a decisive factor in shaping the outcome of the next presidential poll.

Political analysts, however, note that while Tinubu maintains a stronghold in several northern states, electoral dynamics are complex, influenced by party alliances, regional sentiments, and emerging opposition strategies.

Despite the uncertainties, Lawan’s projection underscores the continued significance of northern votes in determining presidential outcomes in Nigeria. He urged political stakeholders to focus on inclusive policies and development-driven campaigns to sustain public confidence.

The 2027 election is shaping up to be a critical contest, with Tinubu’s support base, particularly in the north, likely to play a pivotal role in the electoral calculus.
