Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has dissolved the State Executive Council with immediate effect, marking a significant shake-up in the state’s administration.
The decision, announced late Sunday by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Habibat Adubiaro, affects all commissioners and special advisers, except for a select group of key officials.
According to the statement, the affected officials have been directed to hand over to the permanent secretary or the most senior civil servant in their respective ministries, departments, and agencies.
Governor Oyebanji expressed appreciation to the outgoing members for their service, saying, “I thank the outgoing members of the State Executive Council for their contributions to the development of our state and wish them success in their future endeavours.”
However, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, along with commissioners overseeing Health and Human Services, Agriculture and Food Security, Education, Works, and Trade, Investment, Industry, and Cooperatives, will retain their positions. Special Advisers on Special Education and Social Inclusion, and Lands, Survey, and e-GIS, are also exempted from the dissolution.
In addition, all Directors-General who are members of the State Executive Council including those in charge of the Office of Transformation and Service Delivery (OTSD), Sustainable Development Goals and Project Monitoring (SDGs), and the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) will remain in office.
