The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has brought charges against the Commandant of the Nigeria Peace Corps, Dickson Akon, and the organization’s Director of Finance, Omolola Aminat Ahmed, for their alleged involvement in the misappropriation of N60 million.

The defendants appeared before Justice H. B. Yusuf at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja on Thursday, December 11, 2025. They face two counts of conspiracy and dishonest conversion of funds allocated to the Corps.

According to the EFCC, the accused are alleged to have conspired in 2024 to commit criminal misappropriation, an offence that violates Section 96 of the Penal Code Law of the FCT. The charges specifically accuse them of dishonestly converting N46 million from a N60 million contract meant for the supply of badges to the Corps.

Both defendants entered pleas of not guilty when the charges were read in court. Prosecution counsel Khalid Sanusi requested a trial date following their plea.

Justice Yusuf has adjourned the case to February 25, 2026, for the commencement of the trial. The court granted bail to each defendant in the sum of ₦5 million and directed them to provide one surety of reputable character residing in Abuja.

The case continues to develop as the EFCC pursues its allegations of financial misconduct within the organization.
