The Department of State Services (DSS) has successfully rescued a police officer, Ibrahim Muhammad, who was held captive for three months after being kidnapped by armed men in Patigi, Kwara State.
Muhammad, who serves with the Patigi Division of the Nigeria Police Force, was abducted on 10 August 2025. His rescue was confirmed to the Kwara State Police Command by the DSS at about 5:00 p.m. on 9 November, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama.
Sources revealed that the officer was discovered in a forest where his abductors had abandoned him. He has since been handed over to the police command by the DSS and is reported to be in stable condition.
“He is currently being debriefed as part of ongoing investigations,” a source said.
While the police did not confirm whether any ransom was paid or if arrests had been made, the command assured that efforts were underway to track down those responsible for the abduction.
The rescue has brought immense relief to both the police command and Muhammad’s family, marking the end of more than 90 harrowing days in captivity.
