Brenda Biya, the daughter of Cameroon’s long-serving President Paul Biya, has made a dramatic appeal to citizens of the country, urging them not to vote for her father in the upcoming presidential election.
The plea comes ahead of the October 2025 elections, where President Biya, at 92 years old, is gunning for his eighth term in office, marking an astonishing 43 years of political rule.
Speaking candidly during a TikTok live session, Brenda, known by her followers as “King Nasty,” reflected on the challenging state of the nation under her father’s rule.
According to Brenda, the nation is grappling with severe poverty, widespread unemployment, and a stifled economy. Her remarks resonate with growing discontent among many Cameroonians who feel that the leadership has failed to address the country’s pressing issues.
“After 43 years of leadership, we have seen no real change,” Brenda stated during the live session. “It’s time for the country to move forward, and that means stepping away from a system that has held us back.”

Paul Biya, who assumed power in 1982 following the resignation of Ahmadou Ahidjo, has become one of the longest-serving presidents in the world. His presidency has been marked by increasing criticism, particularly over allegations of corruption, authoritarianism, and controversial elections. Critics argue that under his leadership, Cameroon has seen little progress and has become embroiled in political turmoil, with dissent silenced and opposition marginalized.
In his official bid for re-election, Biya expressed his determination to continue serving the nation, citing numerous requests from both the citizens and the diaspora. He shared his intentions through his official X account, stating, “Rest assured that my determination to serve you matches the urgency of the challenges we face.”
Despite his reassurances, the desire for change is palpable, with many Cameroonians and even his own daughter now calling for a new direction.
