The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed claims by Nafiu Bala, a factional leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), that he was granted access to the commission’s portal to upload the party’s candidates for the 2027 general election.

Bala’s claims, which circulated widely on social media, suggested that his faction had successfully obtained the commission’s access codes and completed the candidate upload process.

However, speaking with *Daily Trust*, INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Mrs. Victoria Eta-Messi, debunked the claim, insisting that the commission does not recognize Bala as the national chairman of the ADC.

“It is not true,” Eta-Messi said.

A check on INEC’s official political parties portal also contradicted Bala’s assertions. The portal lists Senator David Mark as the National Chairman of the ADC and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as the National Secretary, confirming them as the sole officials recognized by the commission for nominations and other statutory dealings.

This development comes amid a protracted leadership crisis within the ADC, as rival factions struggle for control of the party’s national structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
