Obi Cubana, renowned entrepreneur and travel advocate, has applauded United Nigeria Airlines for resuming flights to Osubi Airport in Warri, Delta State, urging the airline to increase flight frequencies to accommodate growing passenger demand.
Speaking on Monday during a flight from Warri to Abuja, Cubana expressed his satisfaction with the restored service. “I had planned to travel through Benin or Asaba, but when I saw that United Nigeria Airlines was back flying to Osubi, I immediately changed my booking. I am proud to support this airline and encourage them to boost their schedules for the convenience of travellers,” he said.
United Nigeria Airlines relaunched the Abuja-Osubi route on Monday with flight UN0548, marking a milestone in restoring reliable air travel links for the region. Chibuike Uloka, the airline’s spokesman, highlighted the significance of the resumption. “This return heralds a new chapter in connecting Warri to Nigeria’s major hubs safely and seamlessly,” he stated, noting the traditional water salute and red-carpet reception that welcomed the flight.
Airport Manager Mr. Winston Ifeacho Egwuatu described the development as transformative for Warri’s economic prospects. “The resumption is not just about flights; it’s about reopening Warri to enhanced business opportunities and social engagement. We urge the airline to maintain consistent services on this route to nurture growth,” he affirmed.
Passengers aboard the reopening flights also voiced enthusiasm, calling for sustained operations to alleviate travel challenges in the area. The airline has since continued regular flights on the Warri-Abuja and Lagos-Warri-Lagos routes, signalling a firm commitment to restoring connectivity and supporting regional development.
