A leadership dispute within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is set to face judicial scrutiny on Friday, as a Federal High Court in Abuja prepares to hear a suit challenging the authority of the party’s leadership under David Mark.
The case was filed by Nafiu Bala, who is contesting the legitimacy of the current leadership structure within the party.
Presiding judge Emeka Nwite fixed May 8 for the hearing after Bala’s legal team submitted a formal application requesting an accelerated hearing.
The legal challenge adds to growing tensions within the opposition party, with the outcome expected to shape internal power dynamics and influence political calculations ahead of future elections.
Political observers say the case could prove pivotal for the ADC as parties across Nigeria reposition and consolidate alliances in preparation for the 2027 electoral cycle.
