A Federal High Court has fixed a date to hear the application filed by detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, seeking an order to relocate him from the Sokoto Correctional Centre to another facility.
Kanu, who is currently held on charges bordering on treasonable felony, approached the court through his legal team, arguing that his continued detention in Sokoto poses significant risks to his safety and well-being. His lawyers insist that the environment is unsuitable and that a relocation is necessary to ensure his fundamental rights are protected.
The court, after reviewing the filings, scheduled the matter for hearing, during which both Kanu’s counsel and government prosecutors are expected to present arguments for and against the relocation request.
The ruling on the application, once delivered, could have major implications for the conditions of Kanu’s detention and the trajectory of his ongoing legal battles.
The hearing is anticipated to attract widespread public and political interest, given Kanu’s high-profile status and the sensitivity surrounding his case.
