Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja today ordered Mrs. Favour Kanu, the sister-in-law of self-proclaimed IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, to leave the courtroom after discovering she had been recording and publishing live video of the ongoing proceedings on social media.
The presiding judge issued the order after being made aware of Mrs. Kanu’s actions. Justice Omotosho, visibly displeased, stated that he would have held her in contempt of court. However, following pleas from defense counsel Kanu Agabi, the judge instead barred Mrs. Kanu from attending the next three sittings of the court.
Prior to his ruling, Justice Omotosho addressed Mrs. Kanu directly, asking her to explain her actions. Mrs. Kanu, identified as the wife of Nnamdi Kanu’s brother, admitted to live-streaming the court proceedings, stating that she was unaware the court was still in session.
This incident follows recent developments in the case, including the DSS informing the court that efforts are underway to return Simon Ekpa, an associate of Nnamdi Kanu, for trial.
This is a developing story. Stay tuned for further updates.
