The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, inspected the ongoing construction of Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks Phase II on Friday, 16 October 2026. The unscheduled visit allowed him to assess the pace and quality of the work and check that it meets approved specifications.

The project is part of efforts to improve accommodation for Nigerian Army personnel and their families, in line with the COAS’s Soldier First philosophy.

During the inspection, Lieutenant General Shaibu visited the residential blocks, internal roads, water systems and other facilities. Project engineers and consultants briefed him on progress, challenges and the expected completion timeline.

He urged the contractors to maintain the pace of work, meet required standards and complete the project on time without compromising quality. He said the facilities should provide lasting value and meet the needs of personnel and their families.

Named in honour of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks is part of the Army’s efforts to address accommodation shortages and improve living conditions for its personnel.

The COAS said the Army would continue to monitor infrastructure projects across its formations and barracks. He added that regular and unscheduled inspections would help ensure quality, accountability and value for money.
