Ikeja Rep James Faleke has come out swinging for Lagos deputy governor Obafemi Hamzat, telling party loyalists the scientist-turned-politician should take the wheel from 2027.

Faleke posted the endorsement on his verified X account Friday evening:
“Good evening all. As we prepare for Party primaries next month, I urge all our supporters in Ikeja Federal Constituency and Lagos State to support Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat as the next Governor of Lagos State from 2027–2035 IJN. Amen!”

The tweet lands as APC chiefs in Lagos drift toward a consensus plan that would hand Hamzat the governorship ticket without a rancorous primary.

The same March 23 sit-down between President Bola Tinubu and top South-West chieftains in Lagos appears to have sealed parallel deals next door: Senator Olamilekan “Yayi” Adeola is the preferred pick for Ogun, while Senator Sharafadeen Alli is tipped for Oyo.

A follow-up meeting—again hosted by the President—was convened to lock in the strategy.

Lagos attendees included Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun) and Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), plus Nigeria Revenue Service chairman Zaccheaus Adedeji and other party heavyweights.
