Ibadan, Oyo State – Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has declared his administration’s determined efforts are positioning the state as one of the fastest-growing economies in Nigeria. Speaking at the opening of the Oyo State International Trade Fair, EXPOYO 2025, in Ibadan, Governor Makinde, represented by his Deputy, Barr. Bayo Lawal, highlighted the government’s strategic focus on infrastructural development, innovation, and investments since 2019.
The governor emphasized the administration’s commitment to building a vibrant economy, adding that significant attention has also been directed towards agribusiness to achieve food security and economic stability within the state. He assured that the government would not waver in its vision for sustainable development.
The EXPOYO 2025, themed “Achieving Food Security and Economic Stability in Oyo State Through Massive Investments in Agriculture,” at the EXPOYO Permanent International Trade Fair Complex, Sango, Ibadan, serves as a platform to showcase the state’s potential and foster business collaborations.
Makinde stressed that while food security is a collective responsibility, his government has actively cultivated an enabling environment for businesses. This is evident in the ongoing improvements across crucial sectors such as transportation, energy, agriculture, and technology.
He reiterated that substantial investment in infrastructure, connecting the state’s zones with quality roads, prioritizing the security of lives and property, and implementing business-friendly policies are fundamental requirements for achieving both food security and robust economic development.
“This Trade Fair is an opportunity for us all to showcase our natural endowment and cultural heritage areas and a remarkable platform to foster a business-friendly environment which conforms to economic enhancement,” Makinde stated. “The EXPOYO 2025 is designed to serve as a forum for investors and business minds to explore new opportunities and collaborate in advancing trade activities in the State.”
He further articulated the administration’s ambition, saying, “The fair’s theme, “Achieving Food Security and Economic Stability in Oyo State through Massive Investment in Agriculture,” encapsulates the present administration’s vision of making Oyo State the fastest-growing economy in Nigeria. We intend to boost commerce to create a sustainable ecosystem where businesses (large and small) can thrive, empowering communities and contributing to the state’s economic development and beyond.”
