Nigerian lawmaker Honourable James Faleke has rolled out a wide-ranging empowerment programme across parts of Kogi Central and Western Senatorial Districts, distributing vocational equipment and providing agricultural training aimed at boosting food security and youth employment.

The initiative, which reached several communities including Ikirianme in Ijumu Local Government Area, saw beneficiaries receive items such as motorcycles, sewing machines and other livelihood tools designed to support small businesses and self-reliance.

Beyond equipment distribution, participants were trained in modern farming techniques, including integrated agriculture and fish farming, as part of efforts to strengthen local food production. Youths also received empowerment support in cassava processing, a move organisers say is targeted at reducing unemployment and promoting agro-entrepreneurship.

Residents praised Faleke’s intervention, describing it as a practical step towards tackling poverty at the grassroots.

Trainees in Ikirianme expressed appreciation for what they called the lawmaker’s consistent commitment to improving lives and creating sustainable economic opportunities in the area.

One of the beneficiaries, Oni Abidemi, thanked Faleke for what he described as a long-standing tradition of community support.

“He has been doing this for a very long time,” Abidemi said. “We pray for his continued growth and elevation in all his endeavours.”

The empowerment programme forms part of broader efforts by Faleke to promote inclusive development through skills acquisition, agriculture and small-scale enterprise support across Kogi State.
