
The Director-General of the Nasarawa State Social Investment Agency, Hon. Imran Jibrin Usman, announced that the agency has commenced disbursement of cash transfers to the most vulnerable citizens across the state’s 13 local government areas.
No fewer than 6,000 individuals will receive ₦7,000 each as part of the second phase of the program.
The Disbursement began in Kokona LGA and was concluded in Keffi. The next LGAs to be visited are Karu, Nasarawa, and Toto to complete the disbursement in the Nasarawa West Senatorial District.
The cash transfer program started with around 3,000 beneficiaries receiving ₦5,000 each during the first tenure of the current administration. In the second term, Governor Abdullahi Sule increased the social welfare package to ₦7,000 and expanded the number of beneficiaries.
Hon. Imran Usman expressed gratitude to Governor Sule for his generosity, emphasizing that providing essential support to citizens is crucial for their well-being. He also advised beneficiaries to utilize the support effectively by engaging in small businesses or trades that can improve their lives.
Most beneficiaries are women and individuals with physical challenges, according to reports from Observer Times.
