Nigerian singer-songwriter Brymo has openly criticised top-tier artists like Burna Boy and Davido for frequently jumping on remixes of songs by emerging talents, accusing them of leveraging these collaborations to maintain their own popularity rather than genuinely supporting new acts.

In a pointed message shared via his Instagram story, Brymo urged established stars to allow rising musicians to carve out their own paths instead of diluting their creative space. “Dear Nigerian mainstream ‘A-listers,’ Burna, Davido and Co, stop jumping on every hit song in a remix, especially releases by newer acts. Let other artistes find their own way,” he wrote.

Describing the trend as “vile,” Brymo challenged the sincerity behind such collaborations, suggesting they are motivated more by self-interest and the pursuit of relevance than by a true desire to elevate fresh talent. He added, “The pretending to be helping them reach higher is a ridiculous watch. Stop seeking relevance in the efforts of ones who know little about the business.”
