Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has addressed the backlash sparked by his recent birthday message to fellow actress Kate Henshaw, insisting that his words were misunderstood by many on social media.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Pulse TV, Iyke explained that the message was intended to surprise and provoke thought rather than offend. “It was designed to shock. Everything I do is to disrupt,” he said, adding that the post reflected a private communication between two longtime friends.
Jim Iyke described his relationship with Kate Henshaw as that of siblings built over decades. “Kate is my sister. How many people can say they have two decades of relationship with someone that isn’t biologically related to them?” he questioned.
He expressed disappointment over the sensitivity displayed by some social media users, stating, “When people misconstrued it, this generation is just too sensitive.”
The actor emphasised that there was no disrespect intended in the message. “There is no sensitivity, disrespect, and there is nothing I can do to dishonour her,” he affirmed.
