An officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has reportedly died after his rifle accidentally discharged, striking him in the eye in the presence of his wife and children in Abuja.
The incident, which occurred on Thursday, reportedly left the officer critically injured before he was rushed to a medical facility for treatment.
According to accounts surrounding the incident, the rifle discharged unexpectedly while the officer was with his family, with the bullet hitting him in the eye.
He was subsequently taken to hospital, where efforts were made to save his life. He, however, reportedly died from injuries sustained in the accident.
