Benue State 2023 gubernatorial candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC),Engr Terhemen Tilley-Gyado has endorsed the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu, and thrown their support behind Hon. Nafiu Bala as Acting National Chairman.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Monday, the candidates described Nwosu’s voluntary resignation as a mark of leadership maturity and respect for the party’s constitution.
He said the smooth transition of authority to Bala, who was previously the Deputy National Chairman, would ensure stability and continuity in the ADC’s mission.
The candidates also urged prominent political leaders in the proposed coalition – including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, David Mark, Nasir El-Rufai, Rauf Aregbesola and others – to formally resign from their previous parties and register as ADC members at the ward level.
They stressed that such moves were necessary to comply with the Electoral Act and the party’s internal rules.
The statement reaffirmed the ADC’s position as a progressive, integrity-driven platform committed to credible opposition and national transformation.
The candidates concluded by calling on members, supporters and prospective allies to unite in the pursuit of transparency, legality and good governance.
