Bashir el-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State governor Nasir el-Rufai, has launched a scathing attack on his brother, Bello, accusing him of abandoning the family over his recent political alignments.
In a series of posts on X on Saturday morning, Bashir used strong and profane language to criticise Bello, questioning his loyalty to the family and taking aim at his recent political activities.
Bashir’s outburst appeared to centre on Bello’s association with Uba Sani, who succeeded their father as governor of Kaduna State.
He accused his brother of distancing himself from the family while aligning with Mr Sani, highlighting what he described as a departure from the family’s political position.
The posts, which quickly drew attention on social media, contained a series of personal attacks and expletives directed at Bello.
Bashir did not appear to hold back in expressing his frustration, repeatedly questioning his brother’s decisions and political loyalty.
The dispute comes amid continuing political realignments in Kaduna, where the relationship between Mr el-Rufai and his successor, Governor Uba Sani, has become a subject of public interest.
Neither Bello nor Governor Sani had, at the time of writing, publicly responded to Bashir’s latest comments.
The el-Rufai family has remained a prominent force in Kaduna’s political landscape, with Nasir el-Rufai serving as governor from 2015 to 2023 before handing over to Mr Sani.
Bashir’s latest remarks have therefore added a personal dimension to an already closely watched political relationship, with his comments generating reactions among X users.
