Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has awarded scholarships to 4,183 students from Kano State, reaffirming his commitment to expanding access to quality education and empowering young people across the state.
The beneficiaries, drawn from various local government areas, include students in tertiary institutions as well as those pursuing professional and vocational training. The initiative is aimed at easing the financial burden on families while encouraging academic excellence and skills development.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Senator Barau described education as the most sustainable investment in human capital, stressing that the scheme was designed to ensure that no talented student is denied opportunities due to financial constraints. He urged the beneficiaries to remain focused on their studies and to see the support as a call to service and responsibility.
According to him, the scholarship programme forms part of a broader agenda to promote inclusive development, reduce youth unemployment and prepare Kano’s next generation for leadership and innovation.
Parents and community leaders at the event commended the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful, particularly in the face of rising educational costs. Several beneficiaries also expressed gratitude, pledging to justify the confidence reposed in them through improved academic performance.
