The Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy has urged Nigerian graduates to channel their knowledge and skills into solving real-world problems, boosting productivity and accelerating President Bola Tinubu’s ambition of building a $1 trillion economy.
Speaking at a forum for young professionals and graduates, the minister said Nigeria’s economic transformation would depend largely on how effectively its growing pool of skilled youths applies innovation to national challenges across key sectors, including technology, communications, agriculture, manufacturing and public services.
He emphasised that academic qualifications alone were not enough, calling on graduates to prioritise problem-solving, creativity and practical impact. According to him, Nigeria requires a workforce that can translate ideas into solutions that improve efficiency, create jobs and enhance competitiveness in a rapidly evolving global economy.
The minister noted that the communications and digital economy sector remains a critical driver of growth, with vast opportunities for young Nigerians to contribute through entrepreneurship, research, digital services and emerging technologies. He added that aligning skills with market needs would not only raise productivity but also strengthen investor confidence and economic resilience.
Reiterating the Federal Government’s commitment to youth empowerment, the minister said policies under the Tinubu administration were focused on innovation, skills development and enabling environments that allow talents to thrive.
He encouraged graduates to take ownership of their future by continuously upgrading their skills, embracing collaboration and positioning themselves as solution providers capable of driving sustainable growth and supporting Nigeria’s long-term economic goals.
