The Court of Appeal in Abuja has affirmed the suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, ruling that the Senate acted within its constitutional authority.
In a unanimous decision on Monday, a three-judge panel held that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s parliamentary privileges and constitutional rights were not violated by her suspension, which was imposed over alleged misconduct.
The ruling ends a legal challenge that questioned the Senate’s power to suspend one of its members, reinforcing lawmakers’ disciplinary authority. Akpoti-Uduaghan has yet to comment on the court’s decision.
