The All Progressives Congress (APC) says its 2027 campaign will centre on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s achievements rather than new promises or personal attacks.
Abdul’aziz Yari, director‑general of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, announced the strategy on Thursday in Gusau after a closed‑door meeting with Zamfara Governor Dauda Lawal and state traditional rulers. Yari said the campaign will be “issue‑based,” focused on what the Tinubu administration has delivered and what the party intends to build on if re‑elected.
“The campaign will not be about fresh promises or attacks on individuals,” Yari said. “We will highlight the progress already made under this administration and set out how we will consolidate those gains.”
Speaking on national challenges, Yari said recent difficulties had tested the country’s cohesion but noted Nigerians’ commitment to keeping the nation united. He described Tinubu as a leader committed to national development.
“Tinubu is beyond any other person. He is for Nigerians, and he’s a leader that loves this country without any fear of contradiction,” Yari said.
Yari made his first official engagement as campaign director‑general with traditional rulers, explaining that their proximity to communities makes their support crucial to the council’s outreach. “Traditional leaders remain close to the people and play an important role in society. Their blessings are an important pillar of our campaign,” he added.
Governor Lawal, who hosted the meeting, formally introduced Yari to the state’s traditional leaders and urged them to support the APC’s efforts. He described Yari as a “son of the soil” and pledged full backing for the president.
“It is important for us to hand him over to them to seek their support. The people of Zamfara will give the president 100 per cent support in the 2027 elections,” Lawal said.
The APC’s declaration of an achievement‑focused campaign signals an attempt to shift public debate toward governance track records as the country approaches next year’s polls.
